Today Bayonetta 3 Director Hideki Kamiya took to Twitter to provide an interesting history lesson. More specifically, he talked about the Bayonetta IP, who owns it, and the events that led to the third game being greenlighted as a Nintendo Switch exclusive.

It's certainly interesting to hear that Bayonetta 2 started as a multiplatform project, which then was canceled, and saved by Nintendo's funding.

On the other hand, Bayonetta 3 took a while to be greenlighted, but the project started directly with Nintendo's support, as a Switch exclusive.

The first Bayonetta launched for PS3 and Xbox 360 in October 2009. Bayonetta 2 followed in September 2014, and Bayonetta 3 was announced last December at The Game Awards.

Before we get to see what the third game looks like, Switch users will get to enjoy a port of Bayonetta and Bayonetta 2.  you can enjoy a recent trailerIf you want to see what it looks like. It will hit the shelves on on February 16th, 2018.
