Hideki Kamiya Explains Why Bayonetta 3 Is Switch Exclusive; Aims to Make it As Good As it Can Be

Hideki Kamiya reveals the history that led Bayonetta 3 to be greenlighted as a Nintendo Switch exclusive and explains his goals for the project.

Today Bayonetta 3 Director Hideki Kamiya took to Twitter to provide an interesting history lesson. More specifically, he talked about the Bayonetta IP, who owns it, and the events that led to the third game being greenlighted as a Nintendo Switch exclusive.

It’s certainly interesting to hear that Bayonetta 2 started as a multiplatform project, which then was canceled, and saved by Nintendo’s funding.

On the other hand, Bayonetta 3 took a while to be greenlighted, but the project started directly with Nintendo’s support, as a Switch exclusive.

The first Bayonetta launched for PS3 and Xbox 360 in October 2009. Bayonetta 2 followed in September 2014, and Bayonetta 3 was announced last December at The Game Awards.
