Facebook Connect dropped multiple bombshells today, most notably the price for the Oculus Quest 2. One of the other massive updates is that Beat Saber is getting a massive multiplayer update. It launches next month and lets you compete against your friends or random players around the globe. Plus, in November, we're also getting a new BTS music pack that should fit that multiplayer vibe perfectly. Check out the trailer below.

Beat Saber is probably the most successful virtual reality game to date, at least in terms of something that can sell a system. It's incredible blend of good beats and fast-paced action has made it one of the best-selling games in the medium. And this multiplayer update makes perfect sense. With so many new players likely hopping in at the Oculus Quest 2's lower price point, this is the right time for this addition.

Letting you play songs live against your friends is a great move. I do wonder if they could add some songs that incorporate some co-op action. It could be a little like Rock Band where you have certain parts of the song to play. Obviously,  that will require some extra work, but it might be more fun than just always competing.

Either way, pretty much the only thing left for Beat Saber is a track creator. I know there are some potential legal problems with that, but I'd love to see some community created beatmaps. You don't necessarily need to have non-licensed songs allowed in to make that a reality. However, that's a talk for a different day.

Beat Saber is getting its multiplayer update on October 13 for Oculus Quest. The PSVR version is hopefully launching the same day, but the devs said it might get pushed. The BTS pack hits in November.
