Lab Zero Games has announced that Beowulf, a pro wrestler loosely inspired by the epic poem of the same name, will be joining SkullGirls Encore on April 17th. You will be able to download the character completely free on PS3 (and probably Steam as well). Beowulf comes out of retirement to fight the Skullgirl only to find he’s in for much more than he bargained for.

Additionally, they announced that the PlayStation 4 and PS Vita versions of the game will be called Skullgirls 2nd Encore instead, and will feature all the new characters, new modes, and features. To top it off, Skullgirls 2nd Encore will support cross-platform play across the PS4 and PS Vita as well as the original Skullgirls Encore on PS3.

Additionally, it will be cross-buy and while the price is undecided, they guaranteed that you’ll get both the PS4 and PS Vita versions when you buy one. Sadly, PS3 owners will have to buy the game again on PS4 and/or PS Vita if they want to enjoy Skullgirls 2nd Encore. Luckily, you still have the option to play with PS4 and PS Vita owners.
