Best Buy Canceling Destiny Limited Edition Pre-Orders Due to Overwhelming Demand

Bungie’s big return with Destiny next month already has sky high expectations and (apparently) sales, with pre-orders for the game having already caused some major retailers like Walmart to cancel pre-orders on the valuable Ghost Edition due to limited supply, with another major retailer making the same call with the slightly more common Limited Edition.

Posts on the Destiny subreddit have shown that Best Buy is sending emails out to some customers that pre-orders of the Limited Edition of Destiny are being canceled due to overwhelming demand. Though pre-orders of the Limited Edition are being canceled by the retailer, Best Buy also offers in its email that customers affected by this will be given a $50 discount toward the online purchase of either the Digital Guardian Edition or Standard Edition of the game, valid through October 31st, 2014.

Destiny releases for PS4, Xbox One, PS3, and Xbox 360 on September 9th, 2014 – stay tuned for more updates on the pre-order situation around Destiny and its various retailers and sellers.
