PlayStation is known for its fantastic original story-telling games, but what about some free PlayStation games in the store that won’t break the bank?

Sony’s PlayStation has been a powerhouse in the gaming industry for decades. I personally enjoy a myriad of their triple-A titles on my home console and simply cannot put them down until it’s completed.

Free PlayStation games have also become a cornerstone for the gaming community over the past couple of years. Therefore it is no surprise that ground-breaking games such as Fortnite and Apex Legends have accumulated an enormous player base.

So without further ado, here are is our list of the best free PlayStation games available for download on the Playstation Store.

Call of Duty: Warzone

It goes without saying, as to why the Call of Duty franchise continues to release new titles every year. Despite the overhaul of games, which some would call ‘subpar’. 2019’s Modern Warfare was an absolute treat and breath of fresh air.

I could go on for hours regarding how much I love the visual and audio design of the guns and maps. However, what I appreciate the most, is that the same level of care was translated into Call of Duty: Warzone.

World of Tanks

When I studied history in secondary school, I visited Bovington Tank Museum in Dorset, England. I was in absolute awe of all the heavy artillery and machinery showcased in all their glory. Thus, World of Tanks is perfect for World War aficionados such as me.

Get familiarised with armoured vehicles from the early twentieth century, as you blast your opponents away with explosive rounds!

Rocket League

Rocket League was made to test your driving and thruster boosting skills in a highly chaotic fashion. Filled to the brim with high octane gameplay, choose to compete in various modes like basketball and football.

You will truly feel the blood rushing through your body, as the timer dwindles, and the score almost sets. Do you have what it takes to clutch games during crunch time?

Destiny 2

Made by the same company as Halo, Bungie studios released its second instalment of the Destiny franchise in 2017. This cinematic masterpiece of a game became free to play in October of 2019, and I haven’t looked back since.

Chock-full of futuristic customizable weaponry and stat-boosting attire. You must complete objectives in open-world, outer planetary environments that will captivate you for hours. Whether solo, with friends or online matchmaking, get ready to brave all the thrilling challenges ahead

Similar to Destiny in the futuristic department, what sets Warframe apart is its unique guns, loot, and engrossing missions. Additionally, The longevity of the game is not to be understated. The mammoth-sized systems on top of systems mean players have more than enough content to fill their time.

Also, making rewards that much more satisfying in the process. Furthermore, the solo and co-op content is an enthralling experience, to say the least. Providing you with a plethora of side activities to complete. These include fishing, crafting custom guns and melee weapons, and even mining.

This MOBA game lets you strut your stuff in third person, rather than the ubiquitous aerial view. Having the option to choose a variety of characters with their own idiosyncratic abilities is a joy.

Destroying minions and towers with each character feels powerful, enrapturing the player into feeling like a hero or god. Wield your favourite champion and go headfirst into the arena where you will surely kick ass.

Apex Legends

Apex Legends is my favourite Battle Royale out right now. It’s addictive and the game design constantly brings a smile to my face every boot-up. Not only this, but every match feels fresh and unique.

It runs extremely smooth on PS5, with frame rates seldom dipping below 59 FPS. However, do not be disheartened PS4 players; the game is still an absolute blast, and you can still become skilful enough to beat next-gen players!

Nevertheless, whether I win or lose, the enriching lore and beautiful visuals keep me coming back to play this game, so that I may be a definitive Apex Champion. That said, I could not recommend this game enough.

Genshin Impact

Embark on a magical journey around the spectral world of Tevyat to find the hidden deities. Venture on with an additional three people and traverse the land by land, water and air.

The game truly feels ethereal and is a fantastic gaming experience. Moreover, your weapon will have the choice of seven magical elements that each god represents. Thus, choose wisely, and hope to succeed.

Taking inspiration from Super Smash Brother’s style of play, Brawlhalla stands out amongst its peers. Its hammer smashing, wave dashing and item thrashing gameplay makes Brawlhalla a truly competitive experience.

To evidence this, there are prize pools of up to $1,000,000 at stake during eSports events. So go forth and pick between a variety of characters, all with individual stats, powers, and abilities, to battle it out in the arena.

Fortnite needs very little introduction. If you have a younger family member asking if you have Fortnite on your phone, you’re not alone.
But I digress. I often harken back to when Fortnite first released in 2017, to which my heart hasn’t been the same since.

That feeling of adrenaline flushing my brain and blood-tingling under my skin, ever-present whenever I was in the top 5 of the lobby. That feeling will never be forgotten.

If you are new to Fortnite or haven’t played it in a while, I implore you to share that same feeling I had, as you won’t regret it.
