Whether you find them essential or not, there's no doubt that healers are the ones keeping us alive at the end of the day. They are often the characters we remember as our time with a game has ended, realizing that we took them for granted as they quietly healed us in the background. But what video game healer can be considered a genuinely significant and dependable lifeline?

10 Donald Duck (Kingdom Hearts Series)

Donald Duck in Kingdom Hearts 3

If you've played the Kingdom Hearts series, you're well aware of the strange fact that Donald serves as a healer. Infamously, Donald has a bit of a reputation for not healing you when needed, keeping Goofy as his main priority.

However, you can change your settings in hopes of a higher chance of being healed. These settings come in handy as Donald can noticeably raise your HP, which is an immense help when you're in the midst of an intense boss fight. But the joke of Donald being a fantastic healer that never actually helps you make him an entertaining ally.

9 Morgana (Persona 5 & Persona 5 Royal)

Morgana and Ryuji from Persona 5

Morgana is one of the best healers you can get in Persona 5, especially in the game's early stages. Not only is his loud and opinionated personality memorable, but it's highlighted in the game's code that Morgana's healing adds to Persona 5's story.

Based on the inner workings of Persona 5/Persona 5 Royal, Morgana will heal Ann Takamaki first. This makes sense, with his admiration of her, and makes the game feel a bit more immersive. Alongside this, his healing properties are powerful; but his skill and use in battle only goes so far with his low HP.

8 Wynne (Dragon Age: Origins)

Wynne from Dragon Age: Origins

Besides being a great healer in Dragon Age: Origins, Wynne is an asset early on in the game. She's also spectacular if you're a first-timer to Origins, as her magical wisdom and healing aid you and cement her as a memorable character in the Dragon Age series.

However, if you're a veteran Dragon Age player, you can probably make it through flawlessly without her. But, at the same time, Wynne makes everything feel like a breeze as she does a great job of keeping you alive. She's also spectacular at keeping combat easy, letting you focus more on the story rather than fighting.

7 Doc (Rainbow Six Siege)

Doc from Rainbow Six Siege

Upon Rainbow Six Siege's initial release, Doc was the only available healer. But, the newcomers can't erase Doc's influence on Rainbow Six overall. He's also considered the face of the healer class and the recommended healer for first-timers.

Doc's healing powers are nothing to scoff at either, as he can heal himself and revive allies from afar. But, despite his properties now being replicated with other healers, it is Doc's originality that makes him feel unique to the series. Ultimately, he is present as more than just a simple healer and really leaves his mark on the game.

6 Yuna (Final Fantasy X)

Yuna from Final Fantasy X

Iconically known as Final Fantasy X's White Mage, Yuna plays a big part in keeping your team afloat during combat. Her powerful summons and healer spells are the backbone of successful survival in battle, even if these skills aren't entirely destructive.

Yuna's energetic healing spells with her defensive attacks are just a few elements that make her a significant asset to the team. Within the majority of the game, Yuna likely remains as your main healer, so there's no doubt that fans are well-acquainted with her healing expertise.

5 Mercedes (Fire Emblem: Three Houses)

In the incredible addition to the Fire Emblem series, Mercedes is made out to be the best healer in Fire Emblem: Three Houses. This is based on fans' perspectives and opinions of how she shows up as a healer in the game's combat.

Mercedes' credibility as a substantial healer stems from her straight healing approach, as she can be a designated healer during battles. Because of Mercedes' ability to use Heal, Physic, and Fortify to aid you, she is a fantastic foundation for giving players a successful experience during combat.

4 Barbara (Genshin Impact)

Barbara also has an intriguing backstory within Genshin Impact's story as a pop star idol, making her entertaining on the team as you fight alongside her. This isn't to mention how excellent her skills are in feeling consistent combined with feeling like you have a straightforward healing strategy.

3 The Medic (Team Fortress 2)

The Medic is Team Fortress 2's playable character who ultimately serves as a unique healer class. Let alone being the only healer around, The Medic's weapons could be better when fighting in direct fire. But one of his secondary weapons, the Medi Gun, gradually increases your teammates' health, making him still useful.

Due to this, however, when you play as The Medic, you will most likely be stuck in one place. You will tend to hold a fort near the front lines and aid your teammates instead of getting the chance to fight alongside them.

2 Ana (Overwatch)

Since Overwatch first launched in 2016, and its sequel in 2022, constant debates have raged on over who the best support is. Different sides of the fandom even tend to argue that one healer is more substantial than the others. And, while it's hard to pick just one, Ana seems to take the spot most useful and significant support.

Using Ana allows you to have an entertaining, challenging fight while being extremely helpful to your team. This is mainly from her sniping skills of healing darts for teammates and lethal bullets for enemies.

1 Aerith (Final Fantasy 7)

Aerith from Final Fantasy 7 Remake

Aside from being known as one of the most iconic healers within the Final Fantasy franchise, Aerith is also a master at magic. Her healing properties become ideally suited for your team as a designated healer, however.

Her ultimate act of aid towards the team is her capability to restore huge bits of health to the party. At the same time, her combative abilities also produce critical hits that give an incredible boost to winning the fight. In the end, having Aerith on your team as a healer improves your chances of staying alive during the iconic intensive enemies.
