Coming well over 15 years after the release of the cult classic original, Beyond Good & Evil 2 is highly-anticipated from fans for bringing them back into its exotic and intriguing world, and director Michel Ancel has at least given some sign of when we might be able to play the game, in some form.

Over on Instagram, Beyond Good & Evil 2 director Michel Ancel shared a piece of concept art from the anticipated sequel, and shared some more insight into the creation of the game in reply to fan questions on Instagram.

In response to a question about the game’s release date, Ancel shared that “we aim for a playable beta for the end of next year,” giving at least some indication that while the game (presumably) is quite a ways away from release, we at least may get a playable iteration of it within the (relatively) near future.

Coming off E3 2018 last week, we got a new cinematic trailer for the game from Ubisoft and at least a few more ideas of what to expect from the ambitious sequel, including the fact that the series’ familiar faces — like Jade and Pey’j — will be making a return.

Beyond Good & Evil 2 is currently in development at Ubisoft, though no specific platforms or release date for it have been announced at this time.
