Biomutant - How to Find The Gear Upgrade Benches

By Sam Woods

May 25, 2021

Looting, crafting and upgrading are three major components of the hotly anticipated Biomutant.

Players can loot a range of gear including clothing items, weapon/armor parts and healing kits.

While naturally, looting takes place throughout the map, unusually, players can craft anywhere they want, just by pulling up their inventories – however, upgrading items works differently and this can only be done at specific upgrade benches.

These benches are dotted around towns and locales throughout the game and can be seen on the checklist of the location. However, if you’re anything like me, you’ll see it on the checklist but struggle to find them in the towns.

Here’s how you find the upgrade benches in Biomutant.

How to Find The Upgrade Benches in a Location?

So, you’ve entered a town and on the checklist there’s an upgrade bench, however, you’ve searched every building, nook and cranny of said town and can’t seem to find it.

That is likely for one simple reason. The upgrade benches aren’t actually on the ground, they’re floating in the sky.

Those mechanical balloons you see levitating in the sky aren’t just there to help you locate a point of interest, but are instead the location of the elusive upgrade benches.

So, how do you access the bench?

Thankfully, this part is a little bit easier.

There’s a piece of rope dangling below the balloon, which is perfect for you to clamber your way up.

After working your way up the rope, you will be greeted by the illustrious upgrade bench and from there you’ll be able to upgrade your weapons and armor to your heart’s content, providing you have the materials to do so.
