BioShock iOS Costs $14.99, Releases Tonight For Select Devices

2k has announced today that the mobile port of the now defunct Irrational Games 2007 classic hit, BioShock, will release for iOS tonight. The game is being branded as a ‘premium app’ and comes bearing a hefty price tag at $14.99.

While 2k previously has ported popular AAA franchises to mobile like XCOM Enemy Unknown, its transition was surely aided by its turn-based mechanics that lend itself nicely to touch based controls. While I hold a special place in my heart for Rapture and tribute it pays to spiritual predecessor, System Shock 2, I’m just not sure if the $14.99 price tag for a portable version is all that enticing. It’s hard enough as it is for me to lay down the credit card for a $1.99 mobile focused game like Threes!, let along shelling out $14.99 for a game that may suffer from control issues from being ported to a platform it wasn’t conceived for.

Bioshock iOS should be available at roughly midnight EST tonight in the App Store for iPad Air, iPad Mini 2, iPad 4, iPhone 5S, iPhone 5C, and iPhone 5. Any earlier devices will not work with the game.
