The popular open-world MMORPG Black Desert Online is coming to consoles, starting with the Xbox One, and today DualShockers had a chat with development studio Pearl Abyss CEO Robin Jung in order to gather more information on the plans for the game.

First of all, we get a slightly more precise release window for the Xbox One version. While Jung was not able to give an exact date, he mentioned that the studio is targeting a "summer-ish" release on Microsoft's console. A demo of the port is currently playable at GDC for the press.

A PS4 version of the game was actually teased a while ago, before the announcement of the partnership with Xbox. Jung confirmed that at the moment the developer is working on the Xbox One version first. While a PS4 release is still planned, for now Pearl Abyss has nothing to share about it.

That being said, we did hear that releasing first on Xbox One was purely a business decision, unrelated with technical reasons or differences in developing for one or the other platform.

Interestingly, Jung confirmed that Pearl Abyss is looking into the possibility of porting the impressive mobile version of Black Desert Online to Nintendo Switch. While they're still thinking about it, they believe that the user experience and platform characteristics are similar between mobile platforms and Switch.

This would allow Nintendo Switch users to enjoy the MMORPG on Nintendo's platforms as well, but for the moment there are no further details to share on this.

If you're unfamiliar with Black Desert Online, it's a very enjoyable open-world MMPROG with a giant world and extremely fast and stylish action combat. You can read more about it in our review.
