As one of Netflix's most popular and acclaimed series (and before that, coming from BBC originally), the sci-fi anthology series Black Mirror has made a name for itself by highlighting the impacts that technology has on society and culture, and now an upcoming special for the series is tying that into the world of game development.

Netflix has released a new trailer for Black Mirror: Bandersnatch, which is a special one-off episode of the acclaimed sci-fi series set in the 1980s, and which revolves around a young programmer trying to adapt an epic fantasy novel into a video game. However, things soon take a turn for the worst as he begins to question reality in the process.

Black Mirror has touched on the world of video games and other adjacent technologies in past episodes, such as "Playtest" in Season 3 and Season 4's standout episode, "U.S.S. Callister." However, rumors have suggested that Bandersnatch will include some sort of interactive component where the viewer may have to make decisions that play out in the episode, much like Netflix's adaptation of Minecraft: Story Mode from Telltale Games.

Black Mirror: Bandersnatch will officially debut through Netflix tomorrow, December 28, 2018. For a closer look at the episode, you can check out the trailer below:
