The required specs for PC players looking to hop in the latest entry of the Call of Duty franchise, Call of Duty Black Ops: Cold War, have been revealed, and there are immediately two things that stand out. First and foremost, as long as you're not trying to run the game in 4K with ray tracing, it's not too demanding. But past that, there is something glaring, a continuation of the biggest problem with last year's Modern Warfare: filesize.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare has already made headlines for taking up an abhorrent amount of space on PC player's drives. Before an update that would let players uninstall parts of the gameModern Warfare could take up as much as 230GB of data, meaning you couldn't even fit it on a 250GB driveBlack Ops: Cold War will share that trait with last year's title - in some cases, the game can take up as much as 250GB worth of drive space. That's right, a full quarter of a terabyte for one game.

Black Ops: Cold War

That is, if you're trying to make the game look as good as it possibly can. Black Ops Cold War will only take up 250GB worth of space if you're running the game in 4K, which will likely require players to download an extra texture pack. For everyone else, the game will still take up an enormous 175GB of space, although it's not as much as it potentially could be.

Players that are only interested in Black Ops: Cold War's multiplayer have it the best. That part of the game can be downloaded separately, and will only take up 50GB of space.

It's important to note that all of these measurements are for the game at launch. If Modern Warfare's life cycle is anything to go off of, the filesize for every version of Black Ops: Cold War will go up as the game gets more content. And starting at 250GB for players that want to see the game in crystal clear 4K, the threat of an even more bloated filesize is very present.
