BlazBlue: Chrono Phantasma Producer Dishes Delicious Story Details
Toshimichi Mori, producer of Arc System Works’ upcoming anime fighter BlazBlue: Chrono Phantasma, has divulged a precious few details about the game’s story mode. This mode, which is exclusive to the console version of the game, is a hallmark feature of the BlazBlue games. Toshimichi-san has said the story will indeed pick up after the events in BlazBlue: Continuum Shift Extend, so fans will want to replay that game to get back up to speed.
He also says that there will no longer be individual stories for each character on the playable roster. Instead, there will be three different story branches that connect to create the true ending and while playing either of those branches you can play with different characters. He promises the “volume” of the story mode will be comparable to past games.
I actually wasn’t a huge fan of having to play with each character (I can’t stand the likes of Taokaka or Tager) to complete the story in past games, so I think that will be a good change.
Finally, Toshimichi-san says that the console version of the game will also contain an improved tutorial mode and a feature similar to the abyss mode that appeared in Extend and the portable Continuum Shift II. I like everything I’m hearing about this game so far – except that there’s no confirmed North American release and it’s currently PS3 exclusive.
Perhaps both of those things will change after BlazBlue: Chrono Phantasma hits Japanese arcades later this year.
