Mike Morhaime, one of the three original founders of Blizzard, has today revealed his new game company Dreamhaven. Created alongside a host of other industry veterans, Dreamhaven will develop and publish new and original titles. The announcement of the new company also comes alongside the formation of two brand new game studios under the Dreamhaven umbrella. The first studio, Moonshot, is headed up by three former Blizzard directors - Jason Chayes, Dustin Browder, and Ben Thompson. Between them, their credits include Hearthstone, Starcraft II and Command and Conquer. The second studio, called Secret Door, is also being led by three former Blizzard senior developers - Chris Sigaty, Alan Dabiri, and Eric Dodds. Once again, between them, they have a serious pedigree, working on games such as Warcraft III, Hearthstone and Starcraft.

Dreamhaven CEO Mike Morhaime said of his new adventure:

“I’m excited to team up with such talented people who care deeply about games and their communities. I’ve always believed in the power of games to bring people together regardless of backgrounds or boundaries. With Dreamhaven, we look forward to creating and sharing new experiences with players everywhere.”

In the announcement post, Morhaime confirms that the idea behind Dreamhaven is to "empower creators, help bring their ideas to life, and create original gaming experiences that foster meaningful connections between players."

The company, which is based out of Irving CA, already has a number of game development roles live on the website, including gameplay engineers and concept artists.

While any of Dreamhaven's projects are likely to be years away, the calibre of employees working within the two new studios is massive and between them, they have the potential to develop some truly fantastic games. Keep your eyes peeled here for any news from Dreamhaven, Moonshot or Secret Door as and when it drops.
