A host of new job listings over on Blizzard's site today confirm that the historically PC-devoted development studio is looking to expand the audience for the third installment of their beloved dungeon-delving action RPG series, Diablo III. While no official announcement has been made, the recently added job listings under the Diablo III heading include "Senior Producer, Console",  "Lead Programmer, Console", as well as "Lead Designer, Console".

Job listings like that would imply to me that the console side of development is not nearly as far along as its PC counterpart, but this is still going to be cause for concern amongst Blizzard devotees. Console outings have not been particularly successful for Blizzard in the past (Rock 'n Roll Racing notwithstanding) so no doubt this new revelation will fuel claims that the sequel will be dumbed down in some way to appeal to the console plebes. We'll be keeping our eyes on this little issue, rest assured.
