Blizzard Entertainment seems happy with the balancing of characters in its recently launched FPS sequel Overwatch 2, and it doesn't seem like any characters will need to be buffed or scaled back in the near future

In an official developer blog post that went up October 13, Blizzard Entertainment reported that it has seen a win rate of between 45 and 55 percent for every single character on the Overwatch 2 roster, which met the developer's balancing goals. As a result, the company is not planning on any major balancing changes to any of the characters in the near future, with just a slight adjustment planned for one.

The exception to the rule seems to be Zarya, who many players seem to be flocking to for her tanking aptitude. The adjustment will apply only to Total Mayhem mode, which is scheduled to go live in less than two weeks, on October 25. The development team is, however, planning a series of changes to the characters starting with Season Two, with a goal of making each character have a more distinct feel while maintaining the balance of power spread throughout the roster.

Mei Tracer and Reinhardt

The team remains diligent in continuing to ensure balance, with the post stating, "we’ll continue looking at hero performance and listening to player feedback prior to finalizing any specific changes to balance for Season Two."

The notes also make a point of indicating the most successful tanks in the game, those being Reinhardt, Sigma, and Zarya, who boast unmirrored 53 percent win rates on average. Of course, that could be due to players having extra hands-on time with a couple of them, as of the game's 35 playable characters, most need to be unlocked, and both Reinhardt and Zarya are available when a player first starts the game.

As far as damage-dealers, the developers are keeping watch on Genji for possible balancing adjustments in the future, as the report states he dominated the role at launch but has since leveled out with the rest of the pack, currently sitting at a 52 percent win rate.
