Blizzard: "Very Positive Trends" for World of Warcraft Leading to Legion and Following Movie Launch

During Activision Blizzard’s quarterly financial conference call, Blizzard President Michael Morhaime shared information on the trends the company has seen for World of Warcraft after the launch of the movie and with the upcoming expansion Legion.

Morhaime mentioned that Blizzard has seen “very positive trends” for the game over the past months as a results of the excitement building up to the Legion launch and also due to the positive attention coming from the Warcraft movie.

According to Morhaime, there is “good momentum” everywhere, but the outlook in China is particularly strong. The game is enjoying double-digit growth in engagement compared to a year ago and last quarter, while pre-sales of the expansion are tracking “in line with the prior expansion.”

Activision Blizzard has stopped providing subscriber numbers for World of Warcraft last year, so we don’t have precise information about that. World of Warcraft: Legion will launch on August 30, exclusively for PC.
