Bloodlines 2 Loses Its Lead Narrative Designer and Creative Director
Hardsuit Labs and Paradox Interactive fired two key developers behind Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2.
It seems there’s a lot going on behind the scenes for Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 as two lead developers behind the game have been fired out of the blue.
A recent statement from Hardsuit Labs and Paradox Interactive on the development process of Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 revealed that Lead Narrative Designer Brian Mitsoda and Creative Director Ka’ai Cluney have part ways from the studio. While Paradox Interactive calls it a “joint decision,” Mitsoda has claimed that he’s been shocked by the publisher’s decision to put him aside from the development team after over five years of contribution.
Speaking to Rocket Paper Shotgun, Mitsoda revealed that he was unaware of the recent delay of Bloodlines 2 and that he is sure the delay has nothing to do with the narrative part of the game as they were hitting milestones just in time. Mitsoda said:
I was not part of the conversations that led to the decision to delay production, and to my knowledge, there were no delays caused by the Bloodlines 2 narrative development. I am confident and proud of the work that I and my team put forward. When that work will be seen and what form it will take is unknown to me.
Bloodlines 2 was supposed to launch earlier this year, but the game was delayed to Q4 2020, which again didn’t turn into the final release date of the game and recently pushed back to 2021.
After the changes above in the development team, Alexandre Mandryka will take a consulting role in the narrative department of the game to lead the team in this particular area until the release date. Ka’ai Cluney, the creative director behind the game, hasn’t reacted to the matter yet.
Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 will be hitting Xbox Series X, PS5, Xbox One, PS4, and PC sometime next year.
