The release date for the upcoming anime adaptation of Blue Lock has been confirmed, along with a new trailer and key visual.

It's not very often that we get a sports-related anime TV series, as anime shows are primarily about action, powerful attacks, super strong villains, and an even stronger protagonist. Blue Lock aims to break the mould and become nothing like various other anime shows. This series is about soccer, and its unique concept of bringing soccer into the anime world is what brought it the attention it deserved.

The writer of the series, Muneyuki Kaneshiro, started the serialization of Blue Lock manga in August 2018. So far, 20 volumes of the series are out, with new chapters still currently releasing. In a short amount of time, the series gained more popularity than any other sports-related manga series around. Noticing the high praise that the series received from fans, the anime adaptation was greenlit back on August 12th, 2021.

As confirmed by the official Twitter account and website of Blue Lock, the release date for the series is October 8th, 2022. Studio Eight Bit has animated the upcoming series, known for their exceptional work in The Fruit of Grasaia and That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime. The series will release on local networks like TV Asahi in Japan, while international fans will be able to watch via Crunchyroll.

Besides a trailer, a new key visual is also out for Blue Lock, which includes all the major characters from the series, including Asahi Naruhaya, Rensuke Kunigami, Hibiki Okawa, Reo Mikage, and more. While UNISON SQUARE GARDEN performs the opening theme song, "Chaos ga Kiwamaru," Shugo Nakamura will perform the ending theme song, "Winner."
