We've finally got a release date for Gearbox Software and 2K Game's sequel to their hit breakout Western first person shooter, and it's not as far as you might thing. On September 18th of this year, North America will be getting Borderlands 2 for the Xbox 360, PS3, and PC. It will launch internationally three days later, on September 21st.

Fans who pre-order from participating retailers (not mentioned) will get access to the Borderlands 2 Premiere Club, which will give them access to in-game items and bonuses. Borderlands 2 promises to be "bigger, better, and more badass" than before, with new characters, skills, environments, missions, and items, including weapons, equipment and loot. The story has players teaming up (or playing in solo mode) as they visit the world of Pandora the oust Handsome Jack and the Hyperion Corporation.Co-op mode can be played with friends either locally using a split-screen system, or online.

The Premiere Club rewards include the Gearbox Gun Pack, a Golden Key, and the Vault Hunter's Relic, all of which will provide a slight boost when starting the game. Borderlands 2 is now available for pre-order.
