Nearly two years after the launch of PlayStation VR, Gearbox Software and 2K Games have today revealed what is sure to be one of the most exciting titles that will be coming to the platform in the near future.
Borderlands 2 VR, a virtual reality recreation of Borderlands 2, is making its way to PS VR headsets later this year. The core experience of Borderlands 2 will remain intact with the ability to play as the four original Vault Hunters still available.
Perhaps the biggest change, however, is that Borderlands 2 VR will be solely a single-player game, with no co-op being offered. Co-op play has always been one of the biggest tenants of what makes a Borderlands game so to see it absent here is a bit odd even though it is understandable.
This isn’t the first time we’ve seen popular games from the past remade for virtual reality. Just last year, Skyrim VR released for PlayStation VR and was quite similar to the original game but had just been adapted into VR. Borderlands 2 VR seems to be doing roughly the same thing with some quality of life improvements that you’d need for virtual reality.
There’s an announcement trailer for Borderlands 2 VR attached below if you’d like to see a bit more of what the game will look like from a VR perspective. Borderlands 2 VR will release on December 14, 2018, and will retail for $49.99.
