After a year since its release, Borderlands 3 has continued to give players the looter-shooter experience they were hoping for, with the title's final story DLC having released last month. While there aren't any updates yet on future content for the game, those looking forward to continuing their adventures across Pandora (and beyond) will be able to play on PS5 and Xbox Series X/Series S at launch next month.Developer Gearbox Software has announced that Borderlands 3 will be available for the PS5 and Xbox Series X/Series S at the systems' launch with a free next-gen upgrade. According to the studio, the upgrade will arrive day and date with both consoles as they debut next month, allowing players to continue from where they left off on current-gen platforms.

As announced earlier in the year, Gearbox confirmed that Borderlands 3 would offer a next-upgrade for PS5 and the new Xbox consoles that would introduce local splitscreen co-op and support for 4K/60fps for single-player and online co-op. The upgrade will be available for free for players that have either the PS4 or Xbox One versions of the title and own a next-gen console within the same console family.

Gearbox has also confirmed that save files and progress from the PS4/Xbox One versions of the game will carry over into the next-gen versions, along with any add-on content and DLC. The studio teased that more news for the game will be shared on October 29 in a new episode of The Borderlands Show with Kinda Funny, so stay tuned to hear more once we get closer to the end of the month.

Borderlands 3 is available now on PS4, Xbox One, Google Stadia, and PC, and will also be available as a free next-gen upgrade for the PS5 and Xbox Series X/Series S at launch.
