Over the weekend at San Diego Comic-Con, 2K and Gearbox showed off a gallery of art at their "Museum of Mayhem." The art consisted of those that were in consideration to be the official box art for Borderlands 3. These later hit Reddit in a photo of all the pieces.

The gallery consisted of twelve different images of completely different styles and colors. Some fans of the series were a little disappointed that the new box art does not resemble Borderlands 12, and The Pre-Sequel. Each one features a psycho shooting himself with a finger gun. Borderlands 2 naturally has a psycho shooting himself with two guns instead of one. Some were expecting a similar style featuring a psycho with three guns. One of the concepts in the gallery does feature a psycho in the same pose as Borderlands 2 but instead of a third finger gun, it's a foot.

Personally, I really enjoy the design with the grayscale color pallet with the psycho looking downwards with a three-finger gun and the vault hunter silhouettes. Who knows, maybe they will mass-produce the art and will sell them as posters for those that like one of the options that didn't make the cut. I know I would take advantage of that.

Borderlands 3 is arguably the biggest title set to release for the rest of the year (Editor's Note: Death Stranding says hello). It’s been seven years since we have had a Gearbox developed entry in the franchise. Hopefully, that break will help make Borderlands 3 the best game in the series.

Borderlands 3 is set to come to Xbox One, PS4, and PC on September 13. It will also arrive on Stadia further down the line.
