After several years of anticipation, Gearbox Software and 2K's Borderlands 3 finally released for PS4, Xbox One, and PC via the Epic Games Store today. While it has received generally favorable reviews thus far, there are still some issues, including one that causes lag during split-screen play on PS4. Fortunately, a 2K representative told IGN that the developers are aware of this issue in Borderlands 3 and are working to fix it.

According to 2K, PS4 split-screen players can experience this lag if they are "in heavy combat and one of the players goes into their ECHOdevice and tries to navigate the skill trees and menus." 2K is promising that Gearbox Software will "continue to work to optimize the Borderlands 3 experience," though they say that players should avoid this issue if they "prep for combat ahead of big encounters, and not leave a teammate to fight solo mid firefight!"

No timetable was given for when this issue will be resolved, but at least the developers are aware of it and will update Borderlands 3 to fix it. While launch day issues like this are always disappointing, especially in this case because Borderlands is such a co-op focused series, Gearbox at least has the tools and abilities to improve Borderlands 3 in a timely manner.
