Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel Might Not Be a Full Price Game, Owing to Its Smaller Size Compared to Borderlands 2
Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel may have a price point lower than that of a standard AAA title, Gearbox CEO Randy Pitchford has said.
Speaking to PC Gamer, he noted that in terms of content, Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel is smaller than Borderlands 2.
It’s pretty big. I don’t think it’s going to be as big as Borderlands 2. It might be as big, or a little bigger, than Borderlands 1. It might be kind of in between the two.
He noted that owing to the smaller size, the price point of the title was still in flux. As such, Gearbox has yet to announce a set price, instead holding off until they can get a better sense of the value.
As far as price point goes, I don’t think that’s set in stone yet. It should be priced correctly, so we’ll have to see what happens in the market and understand the actual total value proposition that’s being offered.
Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel is set for release later this year on PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.
