Braid: Anniversary Edition Announced, Coming in 2021 for Current and Next-Gen Systems
With its release in 2008, Braid from developer Jonathan Blow became one of the titles to define indie games from that point forward. From its challenging, time-bending gameplay to an emotional story of loss and consequences, Braid became an all-time indie classic, with a new generation getting to experience the game on modern systems.
During Sony’s latest State of Play presentation, it was officially announced that a newly-remastered version of Braid is in development and planned to launch next year. Braid: Anniversary Edition will bring back the classic platformer for a new audience with newly-remastered visuals and other enhanced features, since will coincide with the game’s 13th anniversary.
According to developer Jonathan Blow, Braid: Anniversary Edition will completely remaster the game’s visuals for 4K displays, and will also feature an extensive in-game commentary feature to give players deeper insight into the making of the game.
While the game was initially announced for PS4, so far it has been confirmed that the Anniversary Edition will be coming to PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, PC, Mac, and Linux. At the moment, Blow detailed that the development team is aiming to release in the first quarter of 2021, and that the game is planned to be released simultaneously across all platforms.
Braid: Anniversary Edition is expected to release in Q1 2020, and will arrive for PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, PC, Mac, and Linux.
