Brawlhalla Surpasses 5.3 Million Players; Is Getting PS4 Exclusive Content and Cross-Play With PC

Free-to-play 2D platformer fighter, Brawlhalla, passes player milestone right in time for news of PC and PS4 cross-play and exclusive content for the latter.

Today, developer Blue Mammoth Games announced that its free-to-play 2D platformer fighter, Brawlhalla, which is currently in Steam Early Access and slated to release on PC, Mac, and PS4 later this year, will have cross-platform play between PS4 and PC when it officially launches.

Additionally, Blue Mammoth Games also provided new details on how the game is performing: revealing that it was the most played fighting game on Steam in 2017 and so far in 2017, with over 5.3 million players to date. However, while these stats are impressive, it’s worth noting that the game is free-to-play, which is going inflate it’s player count by an unknowable amount.

As you may know, the PS4 closed beta for the game is underway with a Founder’s Pack set to soon arrive on August 1st for $19.99 USD. This will provide players with immediate beta access, as well as the following:

  • The All Legends Pack – Includes every available and all future playable-characters including the thief, the newest addition, revealed today
  • A Founder’s exclusive avatar
  • A Founder’s exclusive nameplate
  • A Founder’s exclusive spawn bot – The sleek, new Personal Sentry IV

For those that don’t know, Brawlhalla features both offline and online modes, including ranked queues, local 1v1 and 2v2, a four-player online free-for-all, and online or local free-for-all allowing up eight warriors to fight at once.

The game notably features over 30 different fighters, each with a distinct weapon combination and fighting styles, as well as alternate game modes such as Brawlball, Snowbrawl, Bombsketball and more.

According to Blue Mammoth Games the release of the Founder’s Pack marks the start of the final phase for the game’s PS4 closed beta. Below, you can check out a new trailer which accompanied today’s news:
