Wasteland 3 was announced way back in 2016 and was scheduled for a release as recently as May 2020. However, much like the previous dates, that one was eventually pushed back, and now the game is (most likely) coming out on August 28. On today's Future Games Show, Studio Head Brian Fargo hopped on the virtual stage to give us another look at the game. Wasteland 3 continues to look like exactly what series' fans ordered. Check it out below.

Similar to its predecessors, Wasteland 3 is a party-based roleplaying game. It places high importance on a reactive story and strategic combat. And, for the first time, you'll be able to play either by yourself or with a friend. That's a mechanic that worked well for games like Divinity: Original Sin. I'm excited to see what InXile does with their co-op.

The latest trailer shows off how oppressive the wilds of Colorado can be in Wasteland 3. We see several dark scenes and a snow-covered landscape. It's not going to be a walk in the park for your rangers. Expect to see lots of blood and guts, with the odd spider-mech thrown in for good measure.

Wasteland 2 was an excellent reimagining of the classic game. Here's hoping Wasteland 3 continues that momentum and brings fans an even better follow-up.

Fortunately, we'll know how good the game is soon. Wasteland 3 is set to launch for PC, PS4, and Xbox One on August 28. It will also launch on Xbox Game Pass that same day. And, as always at this point, it would be very surprising to not see it pop up on next-gen consoles.
