Brigandine: The Legend of Runersia Officially Revealed for Switch, Coming in English in Spring 2020 (UPDATED)
Tactical JRPG and war simulator Brigandine Lunasia Senki will be releasing in Spring 2020 worldwide on Switch.
Nintendo and Happinet Games revealed Brigandine Lunasia Senki on the Japanese version of the September 4 Nintendo Direct. The game will launch exclusively on Switch in Spring 2020 in Japan. It’s also worth mentioning Brigandine Lunasia Senki got leaked a few weeks ago through the game’s copyright. The announcement trailer, narrated by the awesome voice of Yuichi Nakamura, is included below.
Brigandine Lunasia Senki is set on a continent where 6 different factions war each other. The game asks you to pick one of the factions and try to conquer the entire continent.
The game has over 100 unique characters as Knights, either part of your faction, or as enemies. Each Knight has beautiful artwork by Raita Kazama illustrating them too. As you defeat other factions, some Knights will join your cause, while others will keep opposing you and join another faction.
Each Knight can recruit different monsters with varying characteristics, meaning different strategies to adopt.
Brigandine Lunasia Senki is divided between map phases where you plan your moves for the next turn and the battle phases which play like a tactical RPG. One particularity of Brigandine though, is that it uses hexagonal grids. You rarely see that in tactical RPGs.
Overall, this new entry keeps the same type of gameplay found in the first game, Brigandine The Legend of Forsena, released in 1998 on PS1.
Update: The Japanese press release for the game mentions English language is supported in the Japanese version, along with Simplified and Traditional Chinese. It also confirms the game will launch worldwide in Spring 2020. The game’s English title is Brigandine: The Legend of Runersia. Artwork for the game and a look at the Japanese Limited Edition is also included below. The Japanese Limited Edition includes an OST, an artbook, and a strategy guide for the game. The longer, English version of the announcement trailer is also included below after the Japanese version.
