Bugsnax: Kero Kero Bonito Perform Full Track, Gets Vinyl Release

Kinda bug and kinda Snack, try to catch 'em in your trap.

During last month’s PS5 event we got fresh reveals of some huge games. There was Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales, Resident Evil Village and Horizon: Forbidden West but there’s one game that surprisingly seems to get spoken about more than the rest. I’m talkin’ ’bout Bugsnax.

Today on iam8bit and Double Fine’s “Day of the Devs” we were treated to a world exclusive first play of the full version of Kero Kero Bonito’s Bugsnax theme: “It’s Bugsnax.” The trio, comprised of Sarah, Jamie, and Gus, got together to perform the full track via a video conference during the event and it’s every bit as trippy as you’d expect. When creating the song, the British indie-pop band had no idea it would be for a PS5 reveal event, but were blown away by the response it got.

Alongside the brilliant performance, fans of the song were treated to the news that iam8bit will be releasing a 7″ vinyl of “It’s Bugsnax”. The Vinyl itself is screen-printed to look like a Strawberry, the infamous first critter we got to see from the original reveal trailer. It comes in a scratch-n-sniff jacket, that according to the product page “smells like actual strawberries.”

The brightly colored album art, which features Kero Kero Bonito lead singer Sarah, was actually designed by the band themselves and Bugsnax developers Young Horses. The song is due to drop later this year and is available to pre-order exclusively on iam8bit’s website. “It’s Bugsnax” is also confirmed to be coming to all major streaming services for streaming and download at the same time.

Bugsnax will release on PC, PS4, and PS5 later this year alongside the Vinyl; wish me luck getting the song out of my head before then.
