Bugsnax was announced back in June during PlayStation’s Future of Gaming showcase. For those that don’t know, the game has you exploring Snaktooth, an island filled with half-bug, half-snack creatures. You’ll play as a journalist who’s invited by explorer Elizabeth Megafig as you discover the island’s mysteries. Additionally, you can discover 100 different Bugsnax throughout the game.

Since its announcement, we have a pretty good idea of what inspired Bugsnax. In a Twitter post, producer Kevin Geisler said the game was partly inspired by games like Pokemon Snap and Viva Pinata. In a previous interview, co-founder and president of Young Horses Phillip Tibitoski said the game has been in development for almost a decade with their nine-person team. One other highlight of the game’s announcement was its catchy theme song by Kero Kero Bonito. The song It’s Bugsnax is available to listen to on major streaming services and it’s available for preorder as a seven-inch vinyl on iam8bit.

Bugnsax launches on November 12 on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and the Epic Games Store. As we find more out about the game and other PlayStation 5 titles, we’ll be sure to let you know.
