Gearbox Publishing Says “There is Probably Gonna Be an Option for Bulletstorm 2” After Bulletstorm: Full Clip Edition

With the upcoming Bulletstorm: Full Clip Edition heading to stores next month, developer People Can Fly expressed they would "like to do more" with it.

Originally released in 2011 for consoles and PC, developer People Can Fly’s wacky first-person shooter Bulletstorm is getting a second wind this generation with the upcoming remastered Full Clip Edition, with the new version perhaps being a chance for the IP to grab a new audience it (sorely) didn’t have the first time around.

During an interview at PAX East 2017, we had the opportunity to try out the upcoming Full Clip Edition for a look at the remastered version of the title, along with asking a few questions about Full Clip Edition and what it means for the property to be developed into a franchise, down the line.

In response to our questions about life for the Bulletstorm franchise after the release of Full Clip Edition, Gearbox Publishing PR manager Vincent Slaven explained that developer People Can Fly “want to do more” with the series, with the Full Clip Edition seeming to be a way for the studio and publisher Gearbox Publishing to gauge interest in the IP since its previous release in 2011.

Specifically, Slaven explained that People Can Fly are releasing the Full Clip Edition as a way to see if “people still want Bulletstorm” and if the current gaming market has a different climate “that will be more receptive” to the over-the-top gameplay that the game is known for. As far as a potential sequel goes, Slaven stated that “there is probably gonna be an option for a Bulletstorm 2 following this,” making the case that how Bulletstorm: Full Clip Edition fares after release may determine what People Can Fly and Gearbox would like to do with the franchise moving forward.
