Bungie might be working on a new game based on the Destiny franchise according to a latest job listing.

In the past few months, Destiny 2 has been growing at a steady rate. After the free-to-play version, Destiny 2: New Light was released, the game witnessed a large number of new players. With the release of frequent expansions and updates, there is always tons of content available in the game for players out there.

Back last year, Bungie had made its intentions clear – they will not be releasing another Destiny title anytime soon. The last expansion, Beyond Light, was released during Fall last year, and we have The Witch Queen releasing next year, after getting delayed from its initial 2021 release window. There will be a Destiny showcase next week which will likely be giving more information about the upcoming expansion. Apart from that, Lightfall will be arriving in 2022.

Bungie Could be Working on a New Destiny Game as Per Job Listing

When asked about Destiny 3 last year, game director Luke Smith had stated, “We’re not planning to make one.” However, it seems like Bungie has decided to change its plan.

The speculations come from the Twitter bio of Donya Shirzad, the Executive Producer at Bungie. Her bio states that she is in charge of “Producing future Destiny games” for Bungie. While that’s still quite vague, a job listing gives us some more information.

Are we getting a Destiny mobile game?

The latest job listing posted by Donya is about a partner-focused Executive Producer. The person’s responsibilities include “to help build a team supporting international partners working with the Destiny IP.” The fact that there is no mention of Destiny 2 but the Destiny IP in general pretty much gives away the fact that something is definitely cooking at Bungie.

Upon further digging up, some more interesting details surface. Under the required skills, there is a mention of experience in developing mobile games. Also, there is a mention about “willingness to travel to China”, which again further hints towards a mobile game.

So what can we expect? At this point, it is hard to come to a conclusion. It could be Destiny 3 which might be getting a mobile release as well, or it could just be a spinoff developed especially for mobiles. However, considering how early it is, it seems likely we will hear more about it anytime soon.
