Bungie announced a set of changes to Destiny which will limit the way players can farm items in the so called “Treasure Cave.”
The patch changes respawn timers in the caves to 40, up from the far faster times which were often as low as 6 or 10 seconds. The net result is that far fewer enemies will spawn, drastically reducing the efficiency of farming.
The cave first came to the community’s attention earlier this week, when it was found to be one of the most efficient and preferred ways to farm items.
In a post about Destiny, Bungie states that they were impressed with the co-ordination going into cave farming,
The herding to get a team of Guardians all behind the line and firing in the right direction, the rush to grab the loot, the scramble when the panic wave starts, the beckoning glow from inside the cave. The speed at which the community organized around this activity was inspiring and humbling to us.
However, the developer noted that this kind of farming was something they didn’t really want to be the focus of Destiny, and so they decided to alter it.
But shooting at a black hole for hours on end isn’t our dream for how Destiny is played.
