With Bungie’s apparent last Halo game, Halo:Reach being released tonight, it’s only natural that they find something else to stick their hands in and expand. This time? A new engine that is in the creation process for a new game.
In an interview by Develop, a question was asked about the licensing of future games, the Communications Manager of Bungie, Brian Jarrard has said,
“I think it goes hand-in-hand with our independent spirit…Just like we don’t want to develop a game off someone else’s IP, we want to push our own technology in the same way. That’s going to be our position for the foreseeable future.”
When further asked about their being a new hunk o’ technology being made for a future game, he went on to say,
“Yeah, [the new engine is] actually in development, so I would say it’s in a stage where, technically we’re still at the end of a pre-production mode.”
So now…we wait. With the Halo game franchise apparently done, what else can be up Bungie’s sleeve?
