Buy to Play Business Model Confirmed for Star Citizen

The crowdfunding campaign for Star Citizen is going strong with $838,963 pledge so far by 9,141 people, and today Cloud Imperium Games published an updated version of the FAQ that, between the other things, clarifies a rather important topic for many: the business model.

According to the FAQ, the game will adopt pretty much the same business model as Guild Wars 2. Once you purchase the game you’ll be able to play it without any additional or periodic fee. You’ll also be able to purchase certain items in a cash shop, but everything in it will also be available through credits in game.

That’s good news for those that are allergic to monthly fees. I personally don’t mind them, but if Cloud Imperium Games can keep up the promised update pace without weighing on our pockets, all the better.
