The Call of Duty series is known for occasionally going off the wall with some bonkers ideas, like when Snoop Dogg led the charge as the announcer on Ghosts' multiplayer or the series' now infamous Zombies modes. Well, it seems that shenanigans are afoot once again with WWII's Days of Summer.

Call of Duty WWII's latest trailer shows a wealth of new features available for their Days of Summer event. There are three new weapons for players to get to grips with during the hottest time of the year; the 3-line sniper rifle, the automaton, and an automatic rifle called the ribeyrolles.

However, the real star of the show in the latest trailer comes in the form of a new map. "The Sandbox" is exactly what the battleground's name implies, and sees teams of tiny green toy soldiers doing battle around buckets, spades, and sandcastles; all while using lettered blocks for cover. This light-hearted playground will be available for free and is sure to be an entirely different experience than the gritty realism of Call of Duty: WWII's War Machine DLC.

Call of Duty: WWII is available now for Xbox One, PlayStation, and PC; you can grab the game on Amazon at a pretty hefty discount today. The Days of Summer event will be running throughout August, but in the meantime check out the trailer below:
