During today's Black Ops Fridays livestream, Treyarch announced a brand new game mode for Call of Duty: Black Ops III.

The mode is called "Free Run," and it's actually a solo experience on courses made of movement and traversal challenges and puzzles, but it retains the multiplayer aspect with an asymmetrical online element. You'll be competing against others' best times on the leaderboards.

It will be available at launch and it won't require unlocking. The courses will also include a tutorial mode to help players learn the movement system of the game.

There will be four courses of increasing difficulty, from beginner, to intermediate to advanced to expert. The courses get "very punishing" towards the end, according to the developers.

The mode was born as a development tool, and the team decided to turn into an actual gameplay mode.

Secondly, players that have enjoyed with Call of Duty: Black Ops II, Ghosts or Advanced Warfare that will link their accounts to the game's official website, will get some in-game rewards in Black Ops III, as displayed by the diagram below.

If you haven't reached those levels yet, you still can before the game launches on November 6th for PS4, Xbox One and PC. It will include eleven multiplayer game modes, plus Free Run and custom games.
