Call of Duty: Ghosts Outed by UK Retailer

Finding out that a new Call of Duty game will be coming out this year is definitely not the biggest surprise, but maybe the revelation that Modern Warfare has been dropped from the title is. Following an erroneous post on Tesco’s – a UK retailer – official website (a listing that has since been pulled), an image was posted of the supposed box art for Infinity Ward’s next iteration in the popular first-person shooter series, entitled Call of Duty: Ghosts. The game was listed for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 only.

The title and box art implies that the game will be related either directly or indirectly to Ghost, a character from 2009’s Modern Warfare 2. Rumors have also persisted that this upcoming title represents a shift in direction and thematic properties for the Call of Duty franchise; a franchise with many people have been referring to as stale and uninspired.

An official announcement from Infinity Ward and Activision is expected at the beginning of next month.
