With only a few weeks left to go until the launch of Call of Duty Season 5, Treyarch Studios has confirmed that Vanguard's final Zombies map will be called 'The Archon'.

The developers also revealed that The Archon would be a round-based map, as opposed to the recently introduced objective style maps. Treyarch found themselves in hot water with Zombie fans when Vanguard was released last year, as the only map available at launch was an objective-based map, completely disregarding the hugely popular round-based maps that fans had grown to love.

Treyarch heard fans loud and clear, announcing that the classic Zombies map from World At War, Shi No Numa, would be returning in Vanguard as a round-based map. Unfortunately, it took the developers four seasons to release the map, much to the disappointment of fans.

Even though Call of Duty: Vanguard is now entering the final stages of it's life cycle, there's one more round-based Zombies map on the way with the launch of Season 5 later this month.

Neither Treyarch Studios, Raven Software, or Sledgehammer Games has confirmed the release date for Season 5, but it's expected to launch on August 24th, which is a little over a week away. Should this be true, an official announcement will likely be made by the developers in the coming days.

But, even without an official release date for Season 5, Treyarch Studios did take to Twitter to confirm that the next Zombies map coming to Call of Duty: Vanguard would be 'The Archon'. This will be the final piece of Zombies content for Vanguard as Season 5 is expected to be the final season for the game's life cycle. Other than the name of the map and that it will be round-based, not much else has been confirmed. The name of the map does suggest that it will be completely new, and not a remake of a previously released Zombies map.

When Season 5 comes to an end, Modern Warfare 2 will then usher in a new era of Call of Duty when it launches on October 28th, followed by the release of a brand new Warzone experience later in the year.
