Call of Duty: Warzone Fans Pay Tribute to Verdansk In Its Final Hours
In the wake of Call of Duty: Warzone Pacific’s launch, fans saluted Verdansk with creative tributes for its final moments online.
A new map is finally here – Call of Duty: Warzone Pacific has launched on December 8th, surprising fans with an early release. After a long two years of battling it out on Verdansk, Warzone has finally brought a new land to explore and fight on – Caldera.
As exciting as the new launch is, many fans felt surprisingly sentimental about Verdansk’s removal. Caldera is a major change to the game, one of the biggest the game’s had to its map thus far. Following the total overhaul, fans started reminiscing about their time on Verdansk.
A FINAL SALUTE TO CALL OF DUTY: WARZONE‘S VERDANSK
Posting mainly on the r/CallofDuty subreddit, Warzone players came together to share their best moments on the map. Through a mix of group photos, impressive shots, and poetry, Warzone fans closed out the end of an era.
Most fans posted their tributes in the form of screenshots commemorating Verdansk and their squad. Redditor Radeon-11693, however, created a full-on music video parody to Taio Cruz’s “Dynamite.” Combining funny squad clips and well-timed animations, their video truly shows the joy of playing Warzone.
Additionally, one fan really took it to the next level, penning a poem to the old map. In “Ode to Verdansk,” Redditor Liam_Foster4 bids their final farewell. From heartfelt thanks to keeping players entertained over quarantine to favorite drop spots, the poem is equal parts touching and hilarious. They express both excitement and sadness over the launch of Caldera, ending in a perfectly bittersweet “Press F to pay respects.”
And, finally, several players posted classic squad selfies to commemorate their favorite landing spots. With Prison in the background, these players took their selfie with the heart spray, expressing a sweet moment in the midst of Warzone chaos.
From the sheer range of group photos online, it’s clear that nearly every major spot on the map holds special significance for some players. Every group has its own sure-win strategies and favorite spots to drop. It just goes to show the sheer range of strategic possibility in Verdansk, and is a true testament to the map’s design.
