Call of Duty: Warzone is the latest entry in the beloved military shooter franchise. Despite its similarities to the recently released Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, it is a standalone battle royale that is free-to-play. That means you do not need Modern Warfare to play Warzone, and you play for no additional cost.

However, players who do own Modern Warfare have some slight benefits in the form of cross-progression. Yes, you will be able to use the weapons and skins you unlocked from 2019’s release.

There are other ways Call of Duty: Warzone separates itself from other battle royales. Most notably, a respawn system that will possibly give you a second chance. If you die, you will join a 1v1 match where you must fight for a respawn. If you win, you can join the fight one last time. However, if you die again, you are out of the match.

Call of Duty: Warzone is available now for Xbox One, PS4, and PC. Remember, if you own Call of Duty: Modern Warfare for one or more of the previously mentioned platforms, you already own the battle royale and begin playing.
