Call of Juarez: The Cartel is Now Available. In Stores. To Purchase. With Money.

I know what you’re thinking; we’re just as surprised as you all are. After the initial controversy surrounding the next installment of the Call of Juarez franchise, it seems like barely any info was unveiled for The Cartel.

I didn’t even know the premise behind The Cartel either until this press release showed up in my inbox. Apparently this one takes place in modern times, as opposed to the rough-and-tough Wild West setting of the first two games, and there doesn’t seem to be much of a connection between the plot threads; this one puts you in the role of DEA agents trying to take down a major drug cartel in various cities, from LA to Ciudad Juarez.

Whether it was poor marketing on Ubisoft’s part, or if there was a genuine reason why it was so gracefully ninja’d out to stores, the fact of the matter remains is that almost everyone is surprised to see this one out so soon, and that’s almost never a good thing, saleswise and qualitywise. If you want, you can check this one out on the PS3 and 360; the PC version won’t be coming until September 13.
