Can Fomantis/Lurantis Be Shiny During Pokemon GO Lush Jungle Event?

The duo are finally available in the game!

March 22, 2022

Pokemon GO is continuing to add in more Alolan region Pokemon with both Fomantis and Lurantis, which naturally prompts the question of can Fomantis and Lurantis be shiny?

The arrival of this pair comes as part of the Lush Jungle event that has its own Timed Research that will even reward you with a Fomantis for completing it.

In addition, there is also a Special Research titled An Akala Adventure that also will reward you with a Fomantis, this that one is for the first step of the process.

Who Are Fomantis and Lurantis?

Introduced in the Alolan region in Pokemon Sun and Moon of course, Fomantis is a Grass type Pokemon that is finally making its debut in Pokemon GO during the Lush Jungle event.

That’s not all though, as its evolution Lurantis is also being added into the game alongside it, which is strictly a Grass type as well. In the mainline games, you can only evolve Fomantis by leveling up Lurantis during the day.

The interesting thing is that you would think the duo would also be a Bug type by their design, but they are only Grass instead.

Can They Be Shiny During Pokemon GO Lush Jungle Event?

The Lush Jungle event is the first appearance of Fomantis and Lurantis in Pokemon GO, so people will want to know if they can be shiny? This is usually not a good sign for getting a shiny version in the game, but that’s not always the case

Unfortunately, these two are following the usual trend though and that means neither Fomantis or Lurantis will have a shiny form in this first release into the game.

This is usually because Niantic wants players to focus on the brand new Pokemon’s addition, but we will eventually see them down the road. However, there is a Pokemon that is already in Pokemon GO that is making its shiny debut during this event with Cottonee.
