Pokemon GO just keeps going after the conclusion of GO Fest and the recent Adventure Week event, with it now crossing over with the Pokemon TCG in a special event. This is also bringing Wimpod and Golisopod to the game for the first time, but the question is can they be shiny or not?

There has been a steady stream of newly added Pokemon over the last few months, with the Season of Alola giving us plenty of them.

This continued with the addition of Tyrunt and Amaura last week as part of the Season of GO and now it's time for two more to join the mix.

Who are Wimpod and Golisopod?

Wimpod is a Bug/Water type Pokemon that was introduced during the seventh generation of games in Pokemon Sun and Moon. This Turn Tail Pokemon may seem pretty weak on its own, but it's got quite a powerful evolution.

By using a whopping 400 Wimpod Candy in Pokemon GO, you can evolve Wimpod to Golisopod, the Hard Scale Pokemon. This maintains the Bug/Water typing and in the mainline games has a very unique ability known as Emergency Exit. This isn't something that will likely be implemented in any way in Pokemon GO, but you never do know in the future when they change mechanics.

Can Wimpod or Golisopod Be Shiny During Pokemon GO TCG Crossover Event?

Niantic has handled the introduction of new shiny Pokemon in Pokemon GO in a number of different ways over the years.

The typical way is adding a new Pokemon to the game without a shiny form in the first place and then later adding a shiny form. However, there are also circumstances where a new Pokemon is added to the game for the first time alongside its shiny variation.

While Wimpod and Golisopod will be added to the game for the Pokemon GO TCG Crossover event, they will unfortunately not be arriving with their shiny form as well.

This is certainly no surprise based on the typical regular additions like Wimpod and Golisopod would fall under, but it still would have been nice to see.
