Cancelled Streets of Rage Footage Hits the Web

A video showing off a prototype for a digital download version remake of Streets of Rage hit the internet. The video was reportedly in an early state and was being worked on by Ruffian Games, the developers behind Crackdown 2.

The video features game play that has players facing off against several enemies at once and some staples of the franchise such as breaking phone booth to find pipes to fight with. It looked like that game was going to have a 3D movement and environments instead of the classic 2D game play from the original games.

Those that are fans of Streets of Rage will want to check out what might have been and maybe get Sega to consider giving the franchise another go.
