Capcom Announces New Mega Man Animated Series to Debut in 2017

While the iconic Mega Man has been quiet for many years (aside from an excellent return in the latest Super Smash Bros. titles on Wii U and 3DS), the famous Blue Bomber is at least set to make a return on the small screen with one of Capcom’s most famous heroes to return in a new animated TV series.

Capcom announced through a press release that the company will be teaming with Man of Action Entertainment (Ben 10Generator Rex) and Dentsu Entertainment USA to bring a brand new Mega Man animated TV series in 2017, with the new series to run for 26 episodes.

The new series is aiming for a 2017 release to coincide with the 30th anniversary of Mega Man‘s debut – though the Blue Bomber previously appeared in another animated series, the new animated series will hopefully bring back some of the classic nostalgia that many have for the action series, with Man of Action’s Duncan Rouleau mentioning in a statement:

“The 1990s Mega Man TV series was cool and different than other series targeted at kids during that time.  It featured great action, but also brought the laughs.  Mega Man is a character that is even more relevant for today’s kids and we are really looking forward to creating something new that still respects the long tradition of the character.”

A new animated TV series featuring Mega Man is currently in development for release in 2017.
