Capcom Announces Street Fighter’s 25th Anniversary Celebration

on January 11, 2012 7:30 PM

Street Fighter is quite possibly one the single best known fighting title in the history of video games and this year the franchise will celebrate it’s twenty-fifth birthday. I’m pretty sure most of the fans of the current Street Fighter titles are way younger than twenty-five, which is a testament to the fascinating staying power of this iconic series. The news was revealed via a post to the Unity blog this morning.

Details on what exactly this celebration will enclose are slim, though we’re promised an “international celebration” and various products, each of which will be adorned with the lovely logo above. Capcom already plays fast and loose with its Street Fighter re-releases, so this anniversary is a great excuse to milk fans even harder. I’m excited about anything legitimately new that may come from this though. What do you think?
