Capcom Has No Plans to Release Street Fighter for the Wii U At the Moment

For those who own Wii U eagerly anticipating the release of a Street Fighter game for the console here comes a cold shower: Capcom Executive Producer Yoshinori Ono responded to a fan’s question via Twitter, confirming that Street Fighter will not be released on the Wii U, at least for now.

Capcom recently announced Ultra Street Fighter IV, a major new update for Super Street Fighter IV which will introduce five new characters, six new stages and new modes and features. The update is due for release in early 2014 and will release as both a full boxed title and DLC.

Those who currently own Street Fighter IV and Super Street Fighter IV Arcade Edition will be able to download the update for $14.99. Alternatively, a physical disc version will be released with the new update included, along with “all DLC costumes for all characters released until now” and “future content” to be confirmed later for $39.99.

Ultra Street Fighter IV will release on PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC.
